Even though it’s not Thursday, today I have some time to post so I’m going to take advantage of it!
After our trips to Philly, Chicago suburbs, Chicago proper, and Champaign-Urbana, Darren and I flew to Vegas for a few days to ourselves. We stayed in the Hilton Suites at the Flamingo, which was pretty close to mid-strip. We went to Fleur, Hubert Keller’s restaurant (for those Top Chef fans), we saw Beatles Love Cirque du Soleil, and we went to the Bodies exhibit and the Titanic exhibit. Those were the main highlights for me. It was a really nice, relaxing time before the semester started.
Of course I really didn’t take any pictures of the things we did, but I did take a picture of Tom Colicchio’s restaurant when we passed by (Darren has promised next time we’re in Vegas, we’ll go there), and also of the lions just hanging out in the lobby at the MGM grand.
I also did a fair bit of knitting while on vacation. I mainly worked on Sharktooth, the first of Westknits’s shawl club shawls. I went for the pattern only option so I’m knitting them out of stash yarn. Though you can’t really see it, here I am holding up the shawl with Vegas in the background.
Sharktooth, by Stephen West. Knit out of Sundara fingering cashmere merino colorway Aged Oak Barrel. This has become the winter shawl for me to wear, in fact, I have it on today.
