I cast this sock on 2 days before my trip. I wanted a pair of socks with a very simple pattern to knit while traveling. I chose RPM from Knitty, inspired by someone else on Ravelry who made a beautiful pair of socks with this yarn/pattern combination.
Here we are in the airport having lunch. Our flight was overbooked and we opted to take a later flight for 2 $250 vouchers. With all the travel we’ve done recently, we needed them. We had lunch at Macaroni Grill.
On Saturday, one of my dearest friends, Rachel, married Joe, a wonderful guy who is perfect for her. I was pleased to be one of her bridesmaids (and she is also one of mine). Here is a picture of us right before she walked down the aisle. I love that she chose to carry one of the bouquets of flowers her grandmother had knitted.
On Sunday, my mother threw Darren & I a couple’s wedding shower. I was really happy to see relatives and friends I hadn’t seen in awhile. Among them was another of my dearest friends Sarah, who must make an appearance on this blog. She bought me my first set of knitting needles and yarn, I taught her to purl, then she made me my first set of socks.
And this is me with my sister and my mom, my most gracious recipients of knitted gifts, and my biggest knitting cheerleaders. My sister and I really want to design knits together one day soon.
The trip ended Sunday night with lots of knitting and chatting away with my family. I told my sister about my blog, and she was really excited to pose for a picture with my sock. Also featured in this picture is my mom’s dog Pax. He doesn’t like new people much, but he seemed to like Sarah & Darren a lot. I guess I have good taste in friends.
And here I am, knitting away on the sock, and cuddling with my sister’s dog Dooney. What a cutie! Notice the socks I’m wearing which I knitted for my mom for her birthday last year. They were my first pair of toe-up socks, and the bind off is really tight. I took these socks home and gave my mom the birthday socks I made for myself this year.
