I have been very busy with wedding knitting. My wedding is now 16 days away! I am trying to focus on the things I am excited about despite the ridiculous amount I have to do between now and my wedding day. One of the things I’m really excited about is wedding knitting.
I finished these socks this morning. They are for one of the wedding attendants. I truly enjoyed every moment of knitting these. I cast them on during Spring Fling as soon as I finished my Cauchy socks. The pattern for these is called Spring Forward from Knitty Summer 2008, and they were designed by Linda Welch. The yarn I used is String Theory caper sock in the colorway Vert. I love the combination of these colors and the pattern. The subtle color changes between greens and golds did not in any way detract from the waves and the lace pattern. I think my favorite kinds of patterns are lace ones where the stitches travel through increases and decreases. There’s something special about seeing how that works, almost magical, like turning a heel.
I am entering the finish line on my wedding knitting. I have 16 rows left on my chuppah, binding off, fringe, and blocking left to do. I also have one more pair of wedding attendant socks to finish; I am currently on the cuff of the 2nd sock so I should be able to get it all done. This week I’ve had to finish up teaching and had lots of meetings on campus, but next week I will be dedicating to getting TV off the DVR and wedding knitting. Slow and steady finishes the race!
