Our first day on the cruise was at sea. It didn’t take us long to explore the boat since it wasn’t very big, and on the first day we both woke up relatively early for massages. I had a hot stone massage which was absolutely wonderful, though I am a sucker and ended up buying some massage oil and refreshing gel for way more money than they were worth. But they were nice for Darren & I to have throughout the entire cruise.
The first day at sea was also the first formal night. We don’t have any pictures of ourselves together at formal night, but not for lack of trying. We should have just gotten someone to take some with our camera.
Our first stop was Ketchikan. We booked an excursion to see Totem Bight State Park, which was pretty good for a first excursion. It was interesting to learn about the totems and also a little bit about Alaskan plants and forests. I tried to take pictures of colors and images I found inspiring and buy yarn based on those colors.
In Ketchikan, there was just a little yarn store, but it was great for my first taste of Alaska. They had a lot of Raven Frog, a handyed yarn from Alaska, and I bought 2 colorways, Totem and Crocuses, to match up with my pictures.
