I want to at least get current with my projects, especially since those are the only things I have pictures of. I need to take more pictures when I travel… Here are some Finished Objects (FOs) in reverse order:
My dissertation. This is just the defense copy, but it still feels like an accomplishment.
Haleakala socks by Cookie A. These came in February club shipment. I knit these with String Theory Caper sock in the colorway Earthquake. It’s not the club colorway but it’s the same type of yarn. 80/10/10 merino, cashmere, nylon. This yarn is yummy to knit with.
These are Monkey socks by Cookie A knit in the Arabian Nights colorway of Sundara sock. This is one of my favorite colorways of all times. Since Monkey socks look good in everything, I just picked something I really wanted to knit with. It’s still hard to see how gorgeous this yarn is. It has hints of lavender, green, gold, pink, and probably few other things along with the lovely brown.
These are Thelonious socks by Cookie A knit in Sundara sock colorway Jungle Boogie. These socks were a little annoying to knit at first because the pattern calls for 10 little stitch markers, and I’m not a fan of stitch markers on small projects like socks. However, I didn’t really need the markers by the 2nd sock and they flew along after that. I knit these in green in honor of St. Patrick’s day.
These are Marilinda by Cookie A, knit in Skinny Bugga colorway Red Spider Mite. The picture is not great (I suck at photographing reds), but this is one of my favorite colorways of all time. I knit these while visiting West Virginia.
You may have by now noticed a Cookie A trend. I’m knitting my way through her second book, Knit.Sock.Love, and I also joined her club in which I get a skein of yarn and 2 patterns every other month. So I’m knitting a lot of her patterns these days. I’m trying to knit all of the patterns from the book for me because I love her socks so much, and I gave away almost all of the socks from the first book. I’m going to have a lot of socks when this is done!
Atlantis socks by Janel Laidman (my first completed project in one of her patterns!) These are knit with Sundara sock in the colorway Beaded Turquoise. The combination of yarn and pattern make these look like a painting to me instead of a pair of socks. I knit these for a swap partner.
And finally, genmaicha mitts by Kirsten Kapur, knit in Three Irish Girls Adorn sock colorway Enna. These were a super fast knit for my swap partner when I realized that the pair of socks I was making her were not going to work for her. It was also my first time knitting with Three Irish Girls, and I really like this yarn, in semi-solids rather than variegated. I knit these while waiting in airports for delayed flights from Detroit, Pennsylvania, and Minnesota, though all of the flights were delayed in Chicago O’Hare. I really hate that airport.
