Hazel knits artisan sock has quickly become my favorite go to sock yarn. It is soft and pleasant to knit with, but is 10% nylon so it wears very well. I have about 6 pairs of socks made out of it now, and you can barely tell I’ve worn them at all. Eventually, I hope to have a drawer full of socks made out of this yarn.
When I was deciding on which clubs to join for 2012, I knew I had to join hazel knits again. I’ve not yet been disappointed with a colorway. Even if it’s a color I don’t normally like, I still seem to love it when I knit with it. This year, Wendee has offered the club in any of her bases instead of just artisan sock. I was still sorely tempted to get more artisan sock because I love it so much, but I thought since I’m making a merino cashmere nylon (MCN) blanket, leftovers from the entice base would be great for it. So I signed up for entice instead.
Additionally, Wendee is offering a new color every month at a 10% discount. I found this hard to resist, so I’ve bought the color every month and since I couldn’t have the skein come alone, I also bought one of the colors on my wishlist. Zest was the colorway for January. I find it incredibly hard to resist a good orange, and I find this orange incredibly rich and gorgeous. I had it sent with Jam Session in Entice, a color I’d been wanting for a long time. Zest is already wound and destined to become Makoto socks, one of the club patterns for Cookie A’s club in February.
The color for February was Frost. I was hoping to buy this Entice but Wendee said she couldn’t get the color quite right on that base, so I bought it in Artisan sock instead. I used it as a good excuse to pick up Indigo, another colorway I wanted in artisan sock. Frost is the first picture, and Indigo is the 2nd.
Finally, we have the club shipment for February. Inspired by candy, we were sent Salted Caramel and Big Red. We also got two of the most amazing salted caramel chocolates. I did give one to my hubby and enjoyed the other myself. I’m still debating about these, but I do think they would make a lovely 2 color shawl, or socks on their own.
The colorway for March called Lichen has been released, but I haven’t yet decided what to pair it with. I’m going to take some time to decide whether or not to buy it. In the meantime, I have a lot of lovelies to keep me busy!
