I can’t believe I didn’t finish a single project in the month of March. I think it’s because I’ve been working on big projects, my beekeeper’s quilt and my black eyed susie sweater, and progress on those is slow going. It’s april now though, and I hope to finish lots of things this month!
Fortunately, knitting hexipuffs does give me the satisfaction of feeling like I finished something. Here are some recent finished puffs in bugga. The colorways are (row 2 L to R) Coffin Fly, Very Quiet Cricket, Dragon Millipede, and Blue-fronted Dancer.
Yesterday I finally finished a project, my Mashad socks! These are knit in Hazel knits artisan sock colorway Cherry Fizz for the Hazel knits Jan/Feb KAL, which was any Hunter Hammersen pattern. The KAL got me to buy both of Hunter’s ebooks. Mashad is a pattern from the first book Silk Road Socks which is inspired by Oriental Rugs. I really like how unique the inspiration and design is for Hunter’s patterns and I hope to knit a few more pairs of her socks in the future!
After I finished the socks yesterday, I immediately cast on for the March/April KAL which is stripes. I am knitting Laurelhurst by Star Athena, a stripey sock with a cute lace cuff. I already messed up 2 things with the lace cuff and will have to start over, but these socks are so pretty it’s worth it. I’m knitting with hazel knits artisan sock colorways Lichen and Blue Spruce.
Lichen is a new stash acquisition; it’s the color of the month for March. I had it sent to me along with artisan sock in low tide, love love love!
I wanted to share a few more stash acquisitions with you from weeks past. From all the videocasts I’ve been watching recently, I’ve been on a stripey kick. Here are some new stripeys I purchased to try out:
Spinning Fates Toula in Electric Boogie (pictured first) and Elementary Dr. Watson (pictured second). I’ve decided Elementary Dr. Watson should be Skews when I get a chance to cast on something new (after I get the 4 pairs of stripey socks I already have going off the needles).
Ladybug fibers superwash 400 purple anemone
This one’s a variegated, ladybug fibers superwash 400 rainbow
And this one’s a gradient, my new obsession. Colorshift yarns gradated set in greys
That’s it for now. I hope to have many more projects finished when next I check in!
