Friday, July 13, 2012. Shownotes episode 6: One Needle in front of the Other
today’s segments include: citations, noteworthy, drafting, fully drafted, brainstorming, lit review + research, and five favorite things. Let’s knit together!
Thank you to Dawn of the Wolfe Farms podcast for mentioning my show on her podcast!
Thank you to Amy Beth of the Fat Squirrel Speaks for talking about how she fits sweaters! I am new to sweater knitting. I love that the Stockinette Zombies are garment knitters and I’ve been inspired by them to knit garments, but I cannot get garments out of similar yardage of yarn like they can, and I really haven’t known where to start. I did take my measurements at the sweater knitting class I took with Anne Hanson at Spring Fling, and I knew some negative ease would flatter a larger figure (I know right? still blows my mind!) But Amy Beth has really helped me. Thanks to Steph, CrankyCrafts on Ravelry, I heard that Amy Beth was doing this and it is great! If you are a larger woman and need some tips on sweater fitting (even if you’re not) check out her show! I wasn’t going to, but I think I might knit Goodale now because Amy Beth’s is so lovely.
Thank you to 1to1 on Ravelry for the knitting podcasts blog! My podcast was featured a few weeks ago. Also, she has an RSS feed that updates each time someone posts a new podcast. It is awesome!
We had some great activity on the boards this week with ideas for research segments. A couple of these ideas are things I don’t know a lot about, and I think the best way to learn would be knit-a-longs! Our first KAL will be for Aug-Sept. You can knit any pattern other than vanilla socks in self-striping yarn. I’m going to start a chatter thread on the board for you to throw out ideas of different patterns you could knit.
Donna, BinaBKnits put it on the board. Heather, BunniPhish said she also would join in
We’re gonna have prizes! I am going to donate a skein of self-striping yarn from my stash, and Seashore Sharon is going to donate a project bag. Yay!
