personal sock yarn club
pick 12 skeins of sock yarn. tuck them away somewhere. every month from sept-aug pick out a skein from your club and pick a pattern to knit. you can do all socks like I’m doing, or you can knit shawls, fingerless mitts, etc. We’re starting next week! I’ve opened a thread for chatter; feel free to show us your WIPs. I’ll also open a thread for finishers and think about some awesome prizes for each month. We can have the skein that Denise madaboutmatisse donated for a September prize!
200 member give away: I’m so happy that there are 200 members in the ravelry group. Thank you for participating! I’m going to open up a thread for you to post how you heard about the podcast. We will have two prizes, Moonshine Crunk sock donated by me and patterns up to $10 donated by Jennifer NerdGirl.
It’s going to be a sock day today because I didn’t make enough progress on the sweater or shawl to really mention them. Plus I cast on 2 new pairs of socks this week (cause I am bad.)
Dumbledore’s Christmas Stockings in Sanguine Gryphon skinny bugga colorway Seaside Dragonlet, knit on size 2/2.75mm hiya hiya sharps.
Jedi Mind Trick Socks in Enchanted Knoll Farm EKF Superwash sock colorway Genmaicha. I’m not sure the needle size, 1 or 1.5 I need to use the needle gauge to check. They are pretty tight so I suspect a US 1/2.25mm needle. I can stretch them enough to get them on my feet.
Vanilla socks in Desert Vista Dyeworks 75/25 Merino Nylon base colorway Tiki Bar on size US 1/2.25mm needles. When I came home exhausted from meetings and teaching this week, they were all I could manage to knit.
Vanilla socks in Three Ewes Twisted in Fiber Eweboo, colorway Bottom of the Barrel, size 1/2.25mm addi lace turbos. I did manage to have a finished object this week. This is why vanilla socks are rockin’ (not that I didn’t love knitting skew)
Hexipuffs: I finished one of the Star Trek and started another one. One to go. I haven’t started on the pink and grey colorways. this was pretty challenging because there aren’t that many pinks.
Three pairs of socks for September! Denise madaboutmatisse vanilla socks in Vesper yarn. For knitabulls KAL.
Personal sock club month 1, Wendy Johnson’s Ribbed Ribbon socks in Tempted Lil’ Luxe Girl in a colorway she dyed just for me! For SKA all knit with Red KAL, and I want to do another pair of socks with a toe up gusset heel so I can show you what they look like and how they work.
Rose Hiver’s Katniss pattern in Hazel knits artisan sock colorway Silhouette. For Solid Socks black/white/grey and for Hazel knits Rose Hiver pattern. Double Dipping!
five favorite things
1. Penultimate app on iPads
2. iPads in general, especially when I get to give them out to my students. This is where busied exhilaration comes in!
3. String Theory Colorworks Resistor. I finally managed to snag a skein. Love the black heel toe.
4. Rose Hiver. She’s generously donated this awesome Fireweeds pattern to the Hazel knits KAL. If it wasn’t the beginning to classes that require brainless knitting, and if I was a bigger fan of colorwork, I’d knit along.
5. Local food/Audio Podcasts. This week I made turkey in the crockpot in mushroom soup broth, plus a salad of local tomatoes, cucumbers, and corn. It was a marvelous dinner, and so easy because I just put the turkey in and let it cook itself. I listened to 2 knit lit chicks on my walk to campus this week.
So wherever you travel, don’t forget your knitting, and engage your creative process!
