Today’s segments include: noteworthy, drafting, fully drafted, and five favorite things. Let’s knit together!
July personal sock yarn club prize
Events: SSK! A few people have expressed interest in the handout from my breakout session. I’m pretty excited about it!
Goodale Cardigan by Cecily Glowik MacDonald in Sanguine Gryphon Bugga colorway Northern Purple Gold Beetle. It’s a top down cardigan. I am really enjoying knitting it so far! This is my Nerd Wars dissertation, which I am submitting for Encyclopedia, O is for Origami, since you fold the fabric over to make the pockets on the Cardigan. I have been plugging away and hope to separate for the sleeves soon. Leslie from the Knitgirllls is already done with hers! I’m jealous. It looks great.
Into the Whirled Correidale in the Colorway Children of Time, for Tour de Fleece! I finished one single and weighed it; it weighs approximately the same as my leftover fiber. I am excited to see how it looks when I ply it together. For Nerd Wars, I am going to submit this for Encyclopedia Volume C: Cartography as it is similar colors to some older maps. Also, I love the mapping challenge.
Vanilla socks in Vesper colorway April Showers Brings May Flowers. These are for Kim Obsidian78 who won podiversary giveaway #3. Even though I’m knitting on a size 0/2.0mm Hiya Hiya sharp needle, these are knitting up fast. I love the color combination.
Into the Whirled Odds and Ends. I finished spinning it, it is all different weights, and around 250 yards according to my approximations. Not bad!
Hexipuffs, I finished two this week.
Five Favorite Things
I spent the 4th of July at my friend Sarah’s house. She knit me my first pair of hand knit socks out of Socks that Rock Mediumweight, and she directed me to Silver’s sock class where I learned to knit socks. Then a Christmas or two later, she burned out on knitting when she tried to knit everyone Christmas presents that year. I know what that is like! Anyway, she decided to give me her stash. She had two tubs of yarn like the ones you see behind me, and I took approximately one of them home and the other one was acrylic that she is going to donate.
I’m going to give away some of the stash (some to you!), but I’m going to show you my five favorite things from the stash that I plan to keep.
1. Knitpicks felici
2. 8 skeins each of Swish DK in Clematis Heather and Mist
3. Elsebeth Lavold silky tweed
4. Antuco 100% cotton
5. Austermann Step
Wherever you travel, bring your knitting along, and engage your creative process!
